Daiwa Energy & Infrastructure is the core strategic arm of Daiwa Securities Group (the 2nd largest securities in Japan) investing in the area of energy and infrastructure.

Looop is one of the largest renewable energy EPC/IPP companies in Japan with a track record of more than 300MW power plants developed worldwide. Since 2015, it has also offered a broad array of energy services in its retail business “Looop Denki”. As of end of March 2020, Looop counted over 200,000 low-voltage plan customers making it the largest independent new power retailer in Japan. Moreover, Looop plays a pivotal role in a smart city project in cooperation with the local government in Saitama, Japan.

HOKURIKU ELECTRIC is an electric utility with 2.1M customers. Their generation mix is characterised by a high ratio of hydroelectric power – which is less carbon intensive than other forms of generation – thanks to plentiful water resources in their area. Their Transmission/Distribution Division was reformed as a separate entity in 2020 and plans to install smart meters to all households by 2024.
